Potente: Italian Downtown Dining at Its Finest

Updated: Jun 20, 2019

Earlier this year, Houston Astros owner, Jim Crane, dove into the restaurant scene with a new Modern Italian eatery in Downtown Houston. In fact, Potente sits right across the street from Minute Maid Park, home of the Astros, which means it's the new hottest spot to grab dinner and drinks before or after a game!

A couple weeks ago we had a taste of some of their favorite dishes on the menu. As you scroll through keep in mind that these are NOT full-sized portions. Also imagine beautiful pairings of wines from their extensive listing. A sommelier is always available to assist you in choosing your wine for the evening!

TONNO CURDO || Tuna, frozen foie gras, preserved lemon, caperberry

I love the freshness of the fish and the addition of the caperberry and foie gras on top! The combination is delightful.

BURRATA CAPRESE || Texas tomato, puglia's cheese, basil blossom, cucumber tea

Tomatoes are locally sourced and out of this world! Though there's no surprise that we have some amazing growers out in our community!

GAMBERONI || Head on Texas shrimp, pistachio gremolata, baby kale, and Texas tomato

New Fall menu item! Stay tuned to find this on the menu!

SPAGHETTI AL TARTUFO NEGRO || Cacio pepe and shaven black truffles

The black truffles are shaved table-side, y'all. That means it's super fresh! Highly recommend trying this dish!

GUANCIALE DI VITELLO BRASATO || Amarone braised veal cheeks, root vegetable vol au vent, whipped butternut

New Fall menu item! Stay tuned to find this on the menu!

APPLE GALETTE || Flaky pastry, candied golden delicious apples, hazelnut gelato

Holy moly this is everything! Order this and savor every bite.

CREAMY CHOCOLATE SOUFFLE || Grand Marnier chocolate, flourless chocolate torte, dark chocolate gelato

Gluten intolerant friendly!

If you're heading over for drinks, try their OLD FASHIONED with Bulleit Whiskey and Kahlua!

1515 Texas Ave

Houston, TX 77002

A big thank you to Potente for having us in! As always, all thoughts and opinions are our own.
