Afuri Ramen has already made a name for itself with its Tokyo roots, fresh house-made noodles, and yuzu-forward broths, but now this Heights ramen shop is upping the game with a lineup of new menu items that go far beyond the bowl.
Known for their commitment to quality, the Afuri team flew in chefs from Japan to personally train the local kitchen staff in top-level sashimi techniques. And it shows. During our visit, we were seriously impressed with the Hamachi Don, Salmon Tataki, Hamachi Carpaccio, and Afuri Roll—each dish was clean, fresh, and beautifully prepared. For a ramen shop, the quality of their raw fish is next level!
If seafood isn’t your thing, there’s still plenty to love. The Spicy Pork Tacos were packed with flavor and had just the right amount of heat to keep things interesting. And let’s not forget what brought us here in the first place—the ramen. The new Tonkotsu Chashu-Men was deeply rich, savory, and comforting, while the Egg Mazemen offered a lighter, more refreshing alternative without skimping on flavor.
Beyond the mains, the new menu includes updated appetizers and even dessert. The S’mores with yuzu curd is worth saving room for— a sweet and citrusy treat, and the perfect ending note.
The expanded menu makes Afuri Ramen Houston a destination for everything from delicate sashimi to bold broths and playful desserts. There’s no better time to drop by and try something new!
