Every year there are SO many new restaurant openings. We've tried a great deal of this year's openings already, so we thought we'd share some of our favorites thus far. Here they are in no particular order:

1. Tropicales

One of the most recent openings, Tropicales sits right off of Bissonnet, serving up an excellent selection of cocktails and colorful latin-inspired food. We love the bright and airy feel of the space and the fact that every aspect of this new cafe is "Instagrammable".

2. La Villa

La Villa opened at the beginning of 2019, bringing in a 2015 Top Chef France finalist, Kevin d’Andréa, to combine traditional and modern French cuisine. The patio and rooftop seating is absolutely perfect to enjoy their incredible happy hour menu. We highly recommend their Croque Monsieur, Sea Bass Ceviche, and Oysters from Pleasant Bay, Massachusetts!

3. Trendy Dumpling

In with the old, in with Trendy Dumpling! Spicy Girl WestU transitioned into a new spot with all the delicious dumplings and a different chef. While there are a handful of menu items that remained the same, the focus is now on the dumplings.

4. Cielito Cafe

There's another great spot that just opened up in Montrose, Cielito Cafe. If you're looking for an adorable breakfast or brunch spot that is inviting yet delicious, look no further.

5. Tropical's Colombian Restaurant

Tropical's Colombian Restaurant made its way to the inner loop earlier this year from Katy, TX to Montrose! Fried sweet plantains, grilled steak and chilichurri sauce - the traditional Colombian food here is absolutely work giving a try.

6. Craft Burger

Chef and Owner, Shannen was the first Houstonian to win Food Network's Chopped, and his food truck opened up late last year as part of Finn Hall! Okay, so we cheated on this one a tad since it officially opened up in 2018, but we just came across Craft Burger, and it was too good not to share!

7. We're Dough Bakery

We're Dough is a Lebanese bakery situated off Westheimer, just west of the Galleria. We didn't know what to expect going in, but everything was delicious. This is such a great breakfast or brunch spot. We highly recommend the Kaak, Eggs & Soujok, and Turkish coffee!

8. Katsu Bar & Noodle

This place was the first time having katsu in Houston, and it also just happens to be one of the newest. At Katsu Bar & Noodle, they season, bread, and cook the meat to order (you can see them making it yourself)! Expect tasty, crispy pieces of whatever type of meat you choose! The options are all pretty customizable.

9. Mademoiselle Louise Bakery

When you're in the mood for fresh French baked goods, Mademoiselle Louise is your new spot. The pastries are amazing, particularly the croissant! The creme brûlée is also to die for. Everything is made in house with the freshest ingredients.

10. Mama Le Vietnamese Cuisine

Mama Le Vietnamese Cuisine was an earlier opening of the year. Though it's a bit of a drive out to Richmond, I swear it is one of the most flavorful pho I've had. They really care about the ingredients they are using, and it shows in the quality and taste of the dishes.
