Hey y'all! Spring has finally sprung in Texas, which means patio season is quickly approaching! ☀️ We visited some new restaurant openings, as well as restaurants that have been around but we haven't yet tried. Read on to see what restaurants in March made our Top 5. 👇

1. HOUSTON RODEO | @RODEOHOUSTON

The Rodeo was BACK this year and we couldn't have been more excited! We saw John Pardi with Matt's siblings, ate all of the yummy food we missed, and just be together with everyone again. We can't wait for the Rodeo next year! Some of our favorite food items that we're looking forward to having again next year: Turkey Leg, Sausage on a Stick, Fried Oreos, Fried Cookie Dough, Island Noodles, Fried Alfredo, Roasted Corn, and Pizza on a Stick.

2. FLORA | @FLORAKITCHENHOUSTON

Flora serves up Mexican cuisine with a contemporary approach, and the food is absolutely divine. Some of our favorites include: Charred Octopus, Baked Oysters, Seafood Combo Tostada, Chayotes, Papas a la Brava, Half Marinated Skirt, and Flan. For drinks, we loved the El Pepino for hints of cucumber and jalapeno, as well as the Flora Margarita for a classic margarita on the rocks.

What really sets Flora apart is the beautiful scenery. The restaurant is nestled between trees, and with floor to ceiling windows and a charming patio, you'll feel as though you're being transported to a luxurious nature-filled destination, especially once you catch a glimpse of the 40+ chandeliers inside.

3. LORO | @LOROEATS

Loro is finally open, and it's just as good as we have been imagining! The building is a renovated Heights church, and they such a beautiful job with transforming it into what it is now. They also have a great patio area in the front too!

On the menu, you'll find tapas style dishes and a selection of bowls and sandwiches. This is a great casual spot to share an enticing meal with a date or with friends. When we visited, they had a great happy hour from 2-6pm on weekdays with bites, cocktails, slushees, beer, tap wine + sake, and wine bottles!

We ordered and recommend: Smoked Salmon Deviled Eggs (HH), Brisket Tostadas (HH), Crunchy Sweet Corn Fritters, Tomato & Cucumber Salad, Crispy Potatoes, Char Siew Pork Belly, and Smoked Beef Brisket

4. SAVOIR | @SAVOIRHOUSTON

Savoir is not a new restaurant, but it's new to me! Located in the Heights, Savoir is a trendy, industrial-chic New American restaurant. I got the Carbonara and it was sooo good, as well as their CURLY. FRY. TRIO featuring 3 different flavored curly fries with dipping sauces.

They have a great happy hour featuring bites and reasonably priced drinks (PS: their mocktails looked really good). End your meal with the Cronuts (with banana filling) -- so delicious! We'll be going again soon to have a full list of our dish recommendations, but check this place out for a date night, GNO, or chill happy hour.

5. TACO STAND | @TACOSTANDHTX

Another restaurant that's new to me (but not the Houston restaurant scene) is Taco Stand, brought to you by the same people as The Burger Joint! They serve street-style tacos, burritos, and margs and y'all... everything is so delicious. We highly recommend for a spontaneous date night, meet-up with friends, and patio vibes as the weather warms up here in Houston!
